Calmar Art Society’s Young Artists’ Exhibition
The Covid-19 pandemic turned many lives upside down this year. Students everywhere were suddenly pulled away from their friends and classmates, and thrown into isolation to help stop the spread. Because one of the missions of the Calmar Art Society is to highlight the importance of art in the well-being of a community, we felt the need to launch an art competition for young artists. We felt that giving children and youths in our communities an opportunity to express themselves through the arts would not only help keep them engaged over the summer months, but also to help heal and lift their spirit.
When the competition opened, we had no idea what to expect. But, to our surprise and amazement, a significant number of art pieces were submitted, all of which are of high calibre. We were so impressed that we decided to have an exhibit displaying the artwork of all these talented young artists in our communities, and thus our inaugural exhibition of young artists was borne.
Do come visit the gallery, read their stories, and be inspired by these youths.
Special thanks to our competition sponsors: Countryside Vision Care, Calmar Chiropractic Clinic, Rise Wellness, Versus Cafe & Catering Co., and the Town of Calmar.
