It all begins as a dream.

Building the Zyp Art Gallery has been a passion project for Dr. Nhung Tran-Davies. Years in the making, on May 15th 2018, the Zyp Art Gallery official opened in Calmar’s newest building - Block 39.

Hank and Tillie played a large part in Nhung's life. Not only were they one of several families who sponsored her and her family from a refugee camp after the Vietnam war. They were part of her daily life, 'adopting' her as Nhung Zyp, she was considered their third daughter and treated as Theresa and Michelle Zyp's youngest sister.

Growing up, not only did Nhung have first-hand privilege of seeing Hank's amazing artwork, but she also witnessed the important work Hank and Tillie did to help children around the world through their NGOs’.

When Hank and Tillie passed, Nhung was saddened by the thought that Hank's masterpieces could remain in storage forever. An epiphany came to her - to build a gallery in his honour. But her first medical clinic did not afford her the space. Years later, when the opportunity arrived to build a new building in Calmar, the first space she allocated was to the gallery.

"This little gallery is my way of honouring the life and legacy of Hank and Tillie Zyp, two very special people who continue to live on in terms of inspiring me. I wanted to do this to honour them and what they've done for our family and for children around the world."
